National Award Winner

We are delighted to announce, less than five years after being established, that we have scooped a national award for being the best small business in the industry.

Contractor Of The Year

The award was announced at the Electrical Contractors’ Association (ECA) Awards 2024 finals at the Hilton London Bankside hotel at the weekend, with Source Electrical being confirmed as the winner for companies up to £5m in turnover. The award was presented by ECA officials and BBC Sport presenter Mike Bushell.

“This recognition among our peers reflects the hard work, dedication, and innovation of our entire team,” said Ian Rogers, managing director of Source Electrical.

“We are incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved together and grateful for the support of our clients and partners.

“A huge thank you to the ECA for this prestigious award and to everyone who has been a part of our journey. Here’s to continuing to raise the bar in our industry.

Employing 20 staff, the company offers design, specification and installation services across a variety of sectors. It specialises in renewable power and heating systems including EV charging solutions for business and residential customers.

We wanted to highlight our work saving clients money and carbon emissions, through LED lighting upgrades, installing photovoltaic panels for a variety of organisations and helping businesses convert fleets to electric vehicles, so it is especially rewarding to have been recognised for the award on this basis.

Dave Battrick, regional manager for the West and South West at ECA, congratulated Source Electrical on the award. “I’m really proud of Ian and the team for representing the West Region so strongly in the awards,” he said.

“On behalf of the ECA, I’d like to congratulate everyone at the company for their hard work and commitment to raising standards in the industry. “They’re a great company with an excellent set of values and work ethics – deserved winners and we look forward to seeing them progress.”

An example of Source Electrical’s sustainability work over the past 12 months  is with hospitality supplies firm Yate Supplies, in South Gloucestershire.

After suffering a 90 per cent turnover hit in the pandemic the company decided to instal a solar energy system as part of their step to a more sustainable future.

Source Electrical helped produce 50 per cent of Yate Supplies’ annual energy requirement through an installation of 170 panels, each producing 425 Watts, totalling just under 60,000 kWh per year. The energy savings will see the investment pay for itself in less than four years.

“When we set up this business we wanted to play our part in changing the industry, moving from just being a contractor and trades supplier to aiming to take away clients’ problems.

“A key focus was to make us an easy company to work with, adding value in the design solutions we provide as well as efficient communication with the contacts at each project we work on.

“We believe contractors have an important role to play in promoting a positive reputation for our industry, to help create an ecosystem of reliable businesses who take pride in their profession and who recognise the value of long-term relationships,” said Ian.

“That’s the way to create sustainable businesses of the future – where profits are a secondary benefit to creating a company which has the right values at its core.”
