OZEV chargepoint grants have helped many businesses, schools and colleges meet the cost of installing EV charging points. They’ve also helped flat renters and owners with dedicated parking spaces, as well as homeowners and renters with on-street parking.
The good news is that the grant scheme has been extended for a further year – up to the end of March 2026. Under the scheme, individuals or institutions can get a contribution of 75% of the cost to buy and install an EV charging point, from £350 up to a maximum of £2500.
There are several eligibility categories, which we summarise below. You must apply for the grant before you start the installation. And there are strict criteria in each case – including the need to own or be responsible for an eligible vehicle (note, some hybrids are excluded).

Who Can Apply for an OZEV Chargepoint Grant?
The following groups and individuals can apply.
A flat owner or renter if they:
- Rent any residential property, including under the shared ownership scheme.
- Own an eligible vehicle and have their own private off-street parking space.
People who rent or own a residential property without private and exclusive access to off-street parking if they:
- Will install a permanent cross-pavement charging solution alongside the chargepoint (cable covers or mats are not eligible solutions).
- Have adequate on-street parking and permission from the local highways authority to install a cross-pavement charging solution.
Residential landlords can apply for either:
- Up to 200 individual grants for properties they own, or
- Up to £30,000 of infrastructure grant funding towards the cost of wider building and installation work to install multiple chargepoint sockets.
Commercial landlords can apply for up to 100 individual installation grants per year.
Small and medium sized businesses can apply for up to five EV infrastructure grants covering 75% of the cost or works up to £15,000 per site. Grants can be for:
- Wiring and posts for sockets you want to install now or in the future.
- Up to £350 per chargepoint socket installed.
- Up to £500 per enabled parking space with supporting infrastructure
Workplace schemes can claim grants towards the cost of installing up to 40 electric vehicle chargepoint sockets. These schemes are open to:
- Businesses.
- Charities.
- Public sector organisations.
- Small accommodation businesses.
State-funded educational institutions can get 75% off the cost to buy and install chargepoints up to a maximum of:
- £2,500 per socket
- 40 sockets across all sites including any applications made previously via the Workplace Charging Scheme.
With the extended grant funding only available until March 2026 – now is the time act!
