Offices, shops, schools, colleges, care homes, surgeries . . . they all have something in common.
All face massive uncertainty over future energy costs. The only certainty is that they’ll be going up, not down. In most cases they also have a shared interest in cutting carbon emissions to improve on sustainability.
Some will be less worried than others. They’ve made the switch to modern LED lighting.
For the rest, there’s usually an easy win waiting to be grasped. Outdated lighting systems mean they’re spending 50-80% more on energy costs than they need to. And they have a bigger carbon footprint than they could.
The direct cost savings from switching to a modern LED lighting system really can be that dramatic. And that’s before you factor-in the longer-term savings of minimal maintenance. You can expect an LED bulb to last between 50,000 and 100,000 hours (up to 11.5 years of continuous use, in other words).
More Control, Better Environment
Today’s LED lighting systems offer much more than lower running costs. Advanced lighting controls let you fine-tune the lighting tone, intensity and ambience to suit different environments and uses around your premises.
Occupancy sensors ensure you’re not wasting energy illuminating empty rooms and unused spaces. You can control centrally when lights come on or off or dim, operate lighting systems remotely, and precisely monitor your energy consumption.
More control, a better working environment and lower costs – what else could you want?
A Painless Switch to LED Lighting
‘All well and good,’ you’re probably thinking. ‘But replacing the entire lighting system across our premises sounds like a big project and a massive upheaval.’
Not necessarily.
Source Electrical recently carried out a complete lighting system replacement for the City of Bristol College Vocational Training Centre in Hengrove. The site includes a mix of workshop, classroom, office and communal areas, each with different illumination needs and usage patterns.
As the principal contractor we were able to specify, design and install a complete new LED lighting and control system on-time and on-budget. This involved replacing over 2500 light fittings across the site.
We worked closely with the college management and facilities team to ensure the project met their needs and caused as little disruption as was humanly possible. Sustainability and cost saving without the pain. Read more about this project.
