In May 2024, a determined team from Source Electrical took on one of the UK’s most iconic endurance tests, the National 3 Peaks Challenge, raising over £3,000 for the Great Western Air Ambulance. Over 26 hours, the team climbed the three highest peaks in Scotland, England, and Wales – Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, and Snowdon – in a journey that tested their limits and strengthened their camaraderie.
The challenge kicked off on Saturday, 25th May, around 5:30 pm, with a team of seven walkers and one dedicated driver. They set their sights on Ben Nevis, the highest peak in the British Isles, standing at 1,345 meters. For more than half of the group, this was their first time attempting anything like the 3 Peaks Challenge, making the accomplishment all the more remarkable. Braving unpredictable weather and intense climbs, they reached the summit and quickly headed back down to make their way to the next peak, Scafell Pike.
After a night drive to England’s highest peak, the team tackled Scafell Pike at 978 meters, facing rocky terrain and foggy conditions typical of the Lake District. Working as a team, they encouraged each other up and down the mountain, motivated by their mission to raise funds for the critical services the Great Western Air Ambulance provides.
The final leg of their journey led them to Snowdon in Wales, where exhaustion was offset by a renewed sense of purpose. Climbing Wales’ tallest peak at 1,085 meters, the team pushed through fatigue to make it to the summit. By 7:30 pm on Sunday 26th May, they had completed the challenge within 26 hours – a proud and empowering moment for everyone involved!
Reflecting on the experience, the team highlighted the sense of achievement and the unique bonds they formed through the challenge. Supporting each other during tough climbs and celebrating milestones along the way, they not only achieved their goal of conquering the peaks but also strengthened relationships within the team. The funds raised for the Great Western Air Ambulance underscored the purpose behind their efforts, helping a vital charity that provides lifesaving services across the region.
With this incredible feat, the Source Electrical team has shown that when we work together toward a goal, there are no mountains too high to climb. The 3 Peaks Challenge has left them inspired and eager for future initiatives that not only test their endurance, but also contribute and benefit important causes like the Great Western Air Ambulance.
